Exploring Colours & Patterns of Nature

How many shades of green can you see when you look out into nature? Looking out my window, I can see dark green, light green, khaki, pastel, creamy green & even splashes of emerald green. This session at Raw&Unearthed is all about exploring, searching & discovering. The world is full of such a rich pallet of colours and shades. There is movement, patterns, textures; from pine cones, flowers and spider webs, you just have to take time to pause to really see beyond & to look deeper into nature in order to absorb it all.

Our set up invitation for play and investigations will include; colour cards, nature images, mirrors, mini tongs, magnifying glasses, test tubes & space to move collect & see. Our intention is to stimulate thought processes and bring attention to colours, patterns & spaces that perhaps you would not have noticed before. We can trek to different parts of the reserve & new bushy spaces in search of natural treasures.

As we promote the act of investigative play with the resources we provide, we aim to instil a deep love for nature. We strive to assist in the development of care and respect for all living things, the plants the animals and the people. Simple acts such as searching for coloured fallen leaves, gumnuts or bark can leave an imprint on their soul. It can play a role of who they are, who they become and dream to be. Furthermore, it promotes a gentle approach to caring for our earth. So much can be found fallen at our feet, while the living natural world around us can remain untouched, preserved & protected.

We will also have our tool kit available for the children to access as they need. The children will have opportunity to not only master the skill of each tool but additionally develop patience, perseverance, resilience, & strong fine motor strength, dexterity and manipulation.
